The Story

Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.

I’m back

It’s been just under two weeks since I returned home and although I haven’t really experienced the post travelling blues that so many fellow backpackers said I would, I’ve struggled to find the inspiration or motivation to post anything on here. I’ve barely even opened up my dashboard and lost hours scrolling through the wealth of amazing and stimulating content that this site offers, an activity that had become a routine and relied on part of my day. But now I feel like I’m at place to return to boring you people with the inane goings on of my days.

The last two weeks have been spent catching up with family and friends, celebrating marriages and birthdays, and playing host to a special guest who was visiting from a foreign land. I should give thanks to all these for keeping me from falling into the inevitable comedown that follows the end of a five month lifestyle of freely roaming around the world. I’m now searching for a job to give me a bit of income so I can pursue some exciting prospects that before the trip, I didn’t even consider being a possibility. Some people say that all good things must come to end. I’m glad I haven’t run into any of these people since returning home.

Exercise

After five months of perennially drinking and eating whatever I want, tonight I hit the squash court for what will be my first proper bout of exercise since I left for travelling at the start of November. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t genuinely concerned this could also be my last bout of exercise ever…

Last Night

Tonight is my last night of this trip. I’d imagined this moment to feel a little more poignant than this. Guess I know it’s not really going to be the end. The next chapter awaits.

MTV

Yesterday I went to a spring break party that was covered by MTV. I can now see why MTV barely exist anymore.

I’m actually quite glad to be out of America. Having drives that require you to stay on the same road for 250km got a little tedious.

This is what happens when you go for dinner in Cancun. Their mothers obviously never told them that they need to let their food go down after eating.

This is the smallest note you can withdraw from the cash machines in the casinos here. I used 10 of it. That’s gambling on a travellers budget for you.
