The Story

Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.

When I returned home from travelling, I looked at Palace’s next five fixtures and thought to myself, if we can possible get seven points from those games, we’ve got a good chance of staying up. Four games have gone and we’ve got ourselves twelve. I’m still not celebrating until we’re mathematically safe. Forever the pessimist.

Premier League

There’s always a great sense of excitement on your opening day of the season, but when it’s your opening day of the season as a Premier League club again, it’s just that little bit more special.

Even though I’ll be out the country for six months of our Premier League season, today’s fixture announcement has excited me greatly. The last time we played Spurs at home in the top flight, we beat them 3-0, so a repeat of that result would be the perfect start to the season.

I’ve had many dreams where someone wearing Phillips 9 on the back of their shirt scores us the winning goal at Wembley. Not exactly how my dreams went, but I couldn’t ask for a better outcome to today. Unbelievable. Slightly disappointed that I’ll be leaving the country for six months of our Premiership season but so happy right now.

Play Off Final

I’m not going to Wembley today. As heartbreaking as that is, I’ve seen us both win and lose a Play Off Final at Wembley and the emotions from both of those were almost too heavy to take. Maybe it’s a slight bit of denial, or me trying to make the most out of my situation, but I’m now looking forward to watching the game from (behind) my sofa.

I’ve never understood why players feel the need to take off their shirts after they’ve scored, especially when it always results in them getting booked, but after that second goal went in, this came straight off. What a night.
